Reflection of life in the light of dreams ...in patients in the treatment of addiction issues

The thesis is dedicated to investigating the context of patients' waking and dreaming lives in the treatment of addiction issues. The aim of the work is to affect the experiences of dream content in patients in the treatment of addiction issues and to reveal their possible intermingling with participants' life stories. The aim is also to promote sensitivity to understanding these connections in clinical and therapeutic work with addiction issues. Attention is paid to presenting the addiction issue and simultaneously using approaches to its treatment. Furthermore, theories and approaches to dreaming with an emphasis on the Jungian approach to dream analysis from which the work is drawn. The empirical part works with narrative analysis and its categories, including thinking about Life Topics, Portrayal of Negotiations, Narrative Structures, Values and Beliefs, Position Layout, Reflection and Viewpoint, or Discursive Context in the context of the participants' dreaming and waking experiences. So far, there has not been a study conducted in the Czech Republic which describes patients' awareness and experience with acupuncture and other CAM methods and their attitudes to future use of these methods after having been treated with them. Aim: The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the experience of patients suffering from migraines with acupuncture. The areas covered were the patients' awareness of acupuncture, their motivation to try acupuncture as an alternative treatment method, their experience with other CAM methods as well as the likelihood of them undergoing another acupuncture treatment in the future. Methods: Semi-structured interviews with selected patients were conducted between September 19th 2015 and May 18th 2016. Geodemographic aspects of the take-up, provision, and availability of the selected healthcare services in Czechia Abstract This work focuses on finding connections and monitoring differences in the area of take-up, provision, and availability of the selected health services in Czechia, especially from a geodemographic point of view. The main goal is to describe and evaluate the influence of basic demographic aspects, age and sex, on take-up, provision, and availability of health services, and also to clarify regional differences. This issue has so far been studied relatively limited in the Czech environment. The work mainly concerns the segment of outpatient care, which is an irreplaceable component of the healthcare system, namely specializations of general practice, outpatient diabetology, cardiology, and psychiatry. Particularly data from the General Health Insurance Company of the Czech Republic (VZP ČR) were used, which contained detailed anonymised information on take-up, provision and availability of health services. Based on these data, methods of a quantitative character were applied. The findings confirm global trends and also offer new insights for further examination of the issue. Patterns of coping with cancer

Cancer is still one of the most feared disease. The communication of diagnosis and the subsequent treatment process are very psychologically demanding for the patient. The aim of the bachelor thesis was to look at this difficult life situation and to map, describe and analyze the ways in which it can be coped. The theoretical part of the thesis describes cancer, the process of coping with an unfavourable diagnosis, sources of support for cancer patients and conditions of personal growth. The practical part uses the design of qualitative research. In-depth interviews are used to find out the experiences of people who have overcome cancer. The research group consists of 5 respondents, including 2 men and 3 women. The process of their experience and coping with the disease, balancing the sources of support and burden and the consequences of this experience on their current lives are monitored.
The practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Czech Republic

This Bachelor thesis deals with the description of the situation of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Czech Republic. Therefore it is not based on specialised literature only, but primarily on a questionnaire research and personal interviews with therapists of Chinese Medicine. In order to enhance the validity of the study, the research was conducted between four differently interested groups. The sample of respondents was divided into therapists, physicians, clients of Chinese Medicine and patients of Western Medicine. Another important source of information was the media. The turning point for Chinese Medicine in the Czech Republic is represented in the socio-political revolution in the 1990s. The revolution enabled the development of Chinese Medicine which continues up to the present. This thesis describes the current situation of the field and looks at options for studying Chinese Medicine, public interest in the treatment, and critique from defenders of Western Medicine who wish to preserve and develop only the scientific way of healing. Aim: To assess patients' experiences with acupuncture focusing on the patients' expected effect before, during and after treatment, on the potential change in expectations during treatment and on its potential effect on treatment outcomes, and on the evaluation of the truly perceived therapeutic effect. Methods: Using semistructured questionnaires, we led interviews with selected patients in the period from 19. 9. 2015 to 18. 5. 2016. Rewritten dialogues were afterwards coded in MAXQDA 12 and evaluated using the content analysis method. Holistic Medicine as a Phenomenon Now Days Time

This thesis focuses on the comprehensive approach to human health. She attempts to shed more light on this topic, to document current circumstances related to the psychosomatic medicine and the so called holistic medicine, and to clarify the manner of understanding these concepts nowadays. The theoretical part of the diploma thesis constitutes a rough summary of the comprehensive approach to human treatment, a view of fundamental theories of psychosomatic medicine and its current position in the Czech health system. The thesis also includes an outline of applied terms which are connected to the comprehensive approach to human treatment, especially in the specialized literature. The practical part of this diploma thesis monitors the way in which the media use the terms of holistic medicine and psychosomatic medicine. Further, a general understanding of these concepts is demonstrated by the means of a questionnaire survey on a sample of 454 respondents. Moreover, the practical part is completed by interviews with two specialists of the Czech psychosomatic scene. The first part deals with the anatomical and kinesiological context, vertebral diseases, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and the McKenzie method. The special section deals with the research of the effect of this method in the treatment of vertebral disorders. The other goals of this research were to determine the effect of this method to reduce pain and its influence on managing activities of daily living. The researched sample was consisted of patients with back pain, these patients were treated for two months at an outpatient rehabilitation department clinics.
Health care system development from the perspective of citizens

Diploma thesis "Health care system development from the perspective of citizens" deals with the current state of Czech healthcare system, how is perceived by the citizens who are the target population of health policy and the main goal of health system is to improve their health. The main goal of this thesis is to find out, if the current state of Czech healthcare system meets with the requirements of citizens, having regard to the citizen's information and compared with the expectations. Qualitative and quantitative research methods (questionnaire, expert and semi structured interviews) were used to achieve the objectives. Theoretical and empirical part of the thesis is focused on the wider context of the role of citizens in the society and enforcement and respect of their human rights. There is emphasized the participation of citizens on health policy and importance of the human rights related to health in the thesis. Results of the survey show the lack of awareness of the human rights related to health and of news in healthcare that does not allow effective participation on creation and implementation of health policy and fulfillment of the role and responsibilities of the state in enforcement of the public interest.
